Breathing Space

Back again on blogger.

Had been really busy for the past 5 days with F1 event and dance camp back to back. For the past 3 days of F1 I practically ended work in the wee hours of the morning (3 to 4 am) The time I slept was the time where most people would have gotten up alr.

I was at the PODIUM LOUNGE(poolside party) @ The Ritz Carlton serving and clearing alcohol after alcohol and cigarettes after cigarettes. Sucha tiring job. Throughout the 3 days I was so afraid that I would take the wrong orders from the guests as they were those VVIP. Mind you, they are not just 'V'. My team were in-charge of sponsors like "Vertu" (if you are not aware, it is a really expensive handphone that costs at least 50k) They have a branch at Ion Orchard if I am not wrong..

Saw really pretty sports cars that were on showcase/display. The plus fact was that they were not launched or out in the market yet. Moving on to the Auction session where I see people splurging on few grands just for a racer's helmet or body suit with their signature on it. I was thinking: " Hmm, what are you gonna do with this helmet? Was it worth it?"

There was also a fashion show. Woah, the international models were at least 1.85m and above. I felt like a midget standing next to them. Oh and also, they make people look fat. They were so scrawny and lean with a couple of abs. Just a last sentence from me: They put Singaporeans to shame. (with their height)

Oh and only on the last night I actually physically popped a champagne bottle for the guests. It was my first and raw attempt. HAHAH. It was really nerve-racking but thanks to the patience of the guests.

And right after F1 was my dance camp. I was physically and mentally drained throughout the 3 days. Though the camp was short but it was really fun. Gossip sessions was always loved and treasured. HAHAH. It was eat sleep dance. (with some games alongside) :)

I have another more practice later in the afternoon.

Stay tuned for more updates!!~

Quality Time

Out the day before ytd with gillian to several places: Chinatown, Haji etc..

Had a yummy and filling feast at "Yum Cha". We practically landed ourselves servings of food after food. (Not only dim sum) Saw "tu tu kueh" alongside and bought it. (Imma really big eater.. Hehehhe)

Took a slow stroll along streets of chinatown. Was mistook for tourists by some shops when we asked for the prices of some items and their start price were really high... They gave us a deep look; analysing our nationality.

PS: I think I will be knocked out the whole of next week with F1 starting just tmr (saying hello to becoming a nocturnal animal as I end at around 2am for the next 3 days) and dance camp follows immediately after that..

Now thinking whether I really made a mistake in joining the F1 event... hmmmmm..
Look out for the next update pretty soon!!~

A Dare

Oh did I mention that I was offered a free hair cut by 'Toni&Guy' about a week ago? Shirl Joyce and Me were stopped by a man scouting for people or should I say "heads with long hair?" for the salon. So the truth was..... they needed "guinea pigs" to let their trainee stylists to have hands-on practice with the guidance of the professional stylist. A question was posed to us: "Are you comfortable with a major change in your hair length?" I was almost hesitant to go for it when I heard that and my first and candid reply was "HUH?!?!?". Then after, the stylist told us that they were experimenting with creative cutting. This got me quite curious and so I went for it.

We sat down and the professional stylist came to us individually to ask us what hair styles we have in mind and gave advise on which hair style was best for us. He began whipping out markers; started drawing the outline of our heads, hair length and which direction to cut accordingly on the mirror. I found it really unique at how they teach the trainees how to go about cutting different styles "step-by-step". Pretty cool.

I was given a "star" parting on my head coupled with massive layering. (I can pass of as having concave/short hair if I were to hide the bottom half of my hair underneath. Heheheh)

So.. after a long and sleepy 3 hours spent at the salon with all the washing, blowing and cutting, I kinda had more volume added to my hair. HAHAHA. Well, I felt that it looked the same as my current but it feels less thicker and different when I tie/bun it up.

Sawatdee Kaa~

After 3 days in Bangkok, I am back in Singapore now. Bangkok treated me really well with good/cheap buys, unique street food, countless shopping malls/street markets etc. The moment I stepped into Suvarnabhumi airport(Thailand) I started missing Bangkok. Sigh... I can stay there for as long as I can if language was not a barrier.

Well, one thing that I felt uncomfortable was being stared at. When people stare at me I would tend to think that there is something wrong with what I am wearing or there is something on my face etc. Well after the 1st day, I slowly took it as their "habit". HAHAH. The weather could be compared to Singapore's weather and I when I had my shades on, I invited more stares.... But at least when I look back at them, they can't see my eye movement. Hahah. So that was so much better. I don't feel awkward anymore. :)

I didnt really take alot of pictures as the streets were really cramped and uneven plus the fact that they were famous for pick-pocketing. So I rarely took out my camera when I felt that it was unsafe.I have been also feeding myself quite alot.. From the start of the day: Buffet breakfast from the Hotel and End of the day: snacks like tom yam cup noodles(yummie) etc. The food courts in the shopping centres have a different/unique way of collecting "money" from the food we ordered. Firstly, we have to check the price of what we want to eat and then head to the coupon booth to purchase the required amount of coupons that you would need to use. I find that quite a hassle though.. (walking up and down)

I love shopping at those street markets and stalls that are non air-conditioned as I CAN BARGAIN!! It would be good if you can go together with groups of 3-5 people as you can definitely get low and cheap buys because it is mostly wholesale. So the more you buy the cheaper it is!! Also, they have a habit of asking you to press the calculator to state how much you are willing to offer for that item. When this comes, I am really very scared because they seem really eager and desperate for business. When you start bargaining with them, you better be prepared to buy it as by walking away, they will get very mad at you. One more thing: They do not have proper/fix designated position where they set up their stalls, they normally move around.

The clothes can be as cheap as 4 dollars per piece. The clothes I see there is exactly what I see in shops like bugis street and fareast plaza. Thinking of it now, I felt cheated buying those clothes for bugis and fareast. The range in prices are far to much. Bought what I needed and felt really "full" from shopping.

Time to tune back to Spore's life. Need to forbid myself from shopping.

I'll catch you soon!!~~~~

Through The Pinhole

Met up with the "oldies" yesterday at school. (Not all of them though..)

Time to start on something productive.

Lying on my bed, I hear the clock ticking for me.

Everyday passes so fast without me knowing. I always thought that staying at home, time passes slower compared to when you are out with friends etc. Well, now no I no longer hold this stand. As I'm typing this, it is already in the mid afternoon. The morning was spent watching "Dear John" myself. Miraculously, it kept me occupied till about noon.

Why the rush in finding for jobs this holiday?!? It is only a month.. Don't they want to spend time with their friends? Are they that hard up for money? This vacation, one should go for a short getaway instead. I am pretty sure the next semester is not any kinder to us. Recharge and get every ready for sem 2!!
